'Lost' (6.7) "Dr. Linus" - Review
Thu, 03/11/2010 - 10:01 — Vrej Hezaran
It's pretty much a given that any episode of Lost featuring Ben is going to be a solid entry, and "Dr. Linus" is no exception. In a previous episode this season, we caught a glimpse of Ben's alternate self, a high school history teacher at the school where Locke ends up teaching. This week's episode delivers on that tantalizing promise and delivers an episode that's second only to that Locke-centric one as best of the season so far.
'Caprica' (1.6) "Know Thy Enemy" – Review
Thu, 03/11/2010 - 09:42 — Jason Van Horn
Caprica is a very different type of sci-fi series, but I've still enjoyed it so far. It's been a bit slow, but last week's episode was excellent and started a storyline I hoped to see continued. Well, it wasn't continued this week, because instead we went back to the slow moving character drama of the first four episodes. I didn't mind that the first handful of episodes, but I thought this episode dragged and was quite boring at times.
Sony Motion Controls Officially Named = Playstation Move
Thu, 03/11/2010 - 08:33 — Jason Van Horn
GDC isn't usually known for showing off a lot of games - that's more a E3 type of thing. That didn't stop Sony from getting a jump on the competition in terms of breaking news, as they held a conference on the opening day of the trade show, in which they announced the official name of the PS3's motion controls - Playstation Move.
I saw the games announced on Attack of the Show yesterday and it looked like...well...the Wii. There's a remote (though with a lighted ball) and a nunchuk (though not wired), but beyond that, there seemed to be a general lag between input and display on the screen. I did think the gladiator fighter looked interesting and could see that system being used for a RPG.
Next 'Batman' To Be Nolan's Last?
Thu, 03/11/2010 - 08:27 — Jason Van Horn
The Christopher Nolan Batman films have been huge successes, but you can only tackle the same material so long before you grow tired of doing it. In the case of Nolan it seems that three is the limit, as the next Batman film will reportedly be his last.
"I'm very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we've done with the characters," Nolan said. "My brother [Jonah] has come up with some pretty exciting stuff. Unlike the comics, these thing don't go on forever in film and viewing it as a story with an end is useful. Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we're telling. And it hearkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories. That's what we do."
'Warehouse 13' Unites 'Firefly' Stars
Thu, 03/11/2010 - 08:22 — Jason Van Horn
As proven last year, Warehouse 13 loves bringing on other sci-fi stars to guest on their series. The trend looks like it will continue this season too, as it was just announced that Firefly stars - Jewel Staite and Sean Maher will be guesting on the same episode this year. In a twist of fate, instead of Kaylee being in love with Simon and it not being returned, this time around Sean's character will be the one in love with Jewel, who doesn't return the love.
'Chuck' (3.9) "Chuck Versus The Beard" – Review
Wed, 03/10/2010 - 09:57 — Jason Van Horn
When a television show's star decides they want to try their hand at directing, it usually means that said actor is going to be missing for the duration of the episode, so that they can focus on directing duties instead. Such was not the case with this week's episode of Chuck, as Zachary Levi was not only directing this week, but was still front and center in this very funny and insightful episode.
'Super Street Fighter IV' Reveals Final New Character - Hakan
Wed, 03/10/2010 - 09:34 — Jason Van Horn
I main El Fuerte, but after seeing some of the new characters, I'm definitely going to be giving them all a shot. Out of all the ones announced, however, I think I'm going to have to go with the recently revealed Hakan. The idea of kicking Daigo's ass with Hakan's crazy moves is just too much to pass up.
'Battlestar Galactica' MMO Announced
Wed, 03/10/2010 - 09:24 — Jason Van Horn
Take one of my favorite sci-fi series of all-time, mix it with a videogame genre in which I'm always trying to find the next big thing, and suddenly you get an understanding of why I'm so interested in Battlestar Galactica Online.
"The new game will feature tactical space combat and mission-based gameplay."
You'll also be able to apparently play as humans and Cylons. Not a fan of browser-based games in general, but with the series pedigree, hopefully it will be excellent.
'Alice In Wonderland' – Second Opinion Review
Tue, 03/09/2010 - 09:50 — Vrej Hezaran
I've been a pretty big Tim Burton fan since I can remember. Beetlejuice is one of my all-time favorite movies and he's continued some solid output even in recent years with solid movies like Big Fish and the darkly comic Sweeney Todd. I'm also a pretty big fan of Lewis Carroll's two Alice novels. Even though I find the books are unfilmable, that didn't stop me from enjoying the Disney cartoon as well as the 1985 TV movie that I used to watch ad nauseam as a kid. Both took a whimsical and musical approach to the source material, because I can only imagine they also concluded that the books as were indeed unfilmable.
Felicia Day To Star In Syfy's 'Red'
Tue, 03/09/2010 - 09:33 — Jason Van Horn
I love Felicia Day. I would make a post just saying that and posting pictures of her loveliness and showing you videos of her talent, but luckily today there's also news to post regarding her. I'm not one to usually care about Syfy's crappy Saturday night movies, but Syfy just announced that Felicia Day will be starring in Red for them - an adult retelling of the Little Red Riding story.
"In the action-packed Red, Red (Day) brings her fiancé home, where he meets the family and learns about their business - hunting werewolves. He's skeptical until bitten by a werewolf. When her family insists he must be killed, Red tries saving him."

We've seen the teaser trailer already, but now the first official trailer for Tron: Legacy is now live for your viewing pleasure. If you want to see it, however, you've got to click on over to the movie's viral website, as we can't currently embed it yet onto our site.
Somerhalder May Return To 'Lost' Again
Tue, 03/09/2010 - 09:15 — Jason Van Horn
Ian Somerhalder has already been on Lost once this season, where we saw him on the plane in the sideways universe. For those Boone fans out there, it looks like we may be seeing him once again on Lost before the show is over. He wouldn't reveal one way or another, but all he would say is that, "It's in the works."
