The Comics portion of The Hachiko

    'Ultimate Comics Spider-Man' #11 – Review

I was beginning to wonder whether this current six-parter would start to shape up with a proper storyline. So far, we've got some decent character development, with Kitty being persecuted for being a mutant, but the shape of the story arc is still unclear. This issue doesn't actually advance the plot any more than past issues, but it sure ends with a nifty bang.

First Trailer For 'The Green Hornet'

    'Avengers Academy' #1 – Review

Going into the book, I wasn't expecting a lot in terms of quality. The designs of the characters have potential, but I hate Reptil in that stupid Marvel cartoon, so I was already predisposed to hating the book. While the book is along the lines of The Initiative series, there's a unique twist to capture my attention. Luckily, that's not the only thing to capture my attention, as I find the student roster to be quite diverse and each offering up their own abilities and insecurities that should make for a good book.

'The New Avengers' #1 – Review

With the Heroic Age officially now in action, we've been able to see what all the new team lineups and books will be like. Most have been solid, but there have been some that were damn impressive. As far as first issues go, The New Avengers is easily the worst of them all. There's potential I suppose, but I need a more proper lineup and an idea as to what this book will be like.

'The Dark Tower: Battle of Jericho Hill' #3 (of 5) – Review

I've only begun to now realize something about these Dark Tower comics: they move so slowly. And yet, strangely, they remain very compelling and I couldn't tell you why.

    'Superman/Batman' Annual #4 – Review

Beyond the Disney afternoon line-up of cartoons, my youth was also capped by my love of superhero cartoons, such as Batman: The Animated Series and the Superman cartoon that was along the same lines. After Batman: The Animated Series was finished, a new follow-up cartoon was soon released entitled Batman Beyond – a futuristic take on Batman where Bruce Wayne was retired and he trained a new kid to take on the role of the Caped Crusader. Once again I found myself addicted to the new series. The show didn't last all that long, and besides a later appearance in another DC cartoon series, the character and universe were practically abandoned. Thankfully for fans like me, a new Batman Beyond comic miniseries is on the way, but before then there's the latest annual in the Superman/Batman series, which once again delves into the world of Batman Beyond, and it feels like the show never ended.

'The Dark Tower: Battle of Jericho Hill' #2 (of 5) - Review

I'm not sure what more can be said to the quality of these Dark Tower comics. I think we've established that Peter David, Jae Lee, and the entire team there are operating on a higher level of comic creation. Working from this basic assumption, it's a given that the issues they put out will be of high quality. The only thing that changes issue to issue is the level of quality within that high stratum.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Wants To Be 'Wonder Woman'

Jennifer Love Hewitt certainly has the - ahem - chest to play Wonder Woman. The real question is if she has the acting chops and physicality to play the role. Also, I haven't heard much about the possibility of a Wonder Woman film since Joss Whedon was dumped from the project, so where is this desire and news coming from?

"I'm fighting so hard," she told MSN. "I think Warner Brothers is getting ready to make Wonder Woman, and I really want to play Wonder Woman. I am obsessed with Wonder Woman."

"I want to play Wonder Woman really badly," she told MTV last year, and then listed the reasons she was the right choice. "Curvaceous. Gold bracelets! Look at these wrists—tell me gold bracelets would not look good! And I love little tiaras, and Wonder Woman got to wear one of those. I'm very athletic."

Preorder 'Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions' At Amazon = Get Iron Spider Outfit

Do you remember the Iron Spider outfit that Spider-Man wore during the Civil War event? You don't? Well, that's okay, because it was a pretty crappy costume anyways and he didn't wear it for very long at all. If you liked it, however, and you're planning on getting Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, you best preorder it over at Amazon, because it's the only way you'll get this unlockable costume.

New 'Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions' Trailer Reveals Spider-Man 2099

After it was revealed that one of the four dimensions in the upcoming game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions was the noir universe, I pretty much assumed - as did probably every other comic fan out there - that one of the remaining two universes to be revealed would be that of Spider-Man 2099. Sure enough that day has come and now you can checkout what the 2099 universe looks like when rendered as a videogame. Pssst - it looks pretty damn cool if you ask me. Haven't been this excited about a Spider-Man game in a while.

Jeremy Renner Could Be Playing Hawkeye In 'Avengers' Movie

Jeremy Renner - who was excellent in The Hurt Locker - is rumored to be in the running to play Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) in the upcoming Avengers movie. Personally, I think he'd be a great Hawkeye. It's still just a rumor that he's in final negotiations, so don't believe anything until it's officially announced by Marvel.

Frank Miller Reveals '300' Prequel 'Xerxes'

It's been talked about before, but now we have definitive word on Frank Miller's 300 follow-up - Xerxes. Many might remember Xerxes (awesome artwork of him at the link provided) from the original 300, but he's about to be fleshed out like never before.

"Yes, I suppose it will be seen as provocative, but really to me he is such a pivotal character and in this story I get to explain him so much more fully," Miller said. "I do my best to crawl inside his head rather than have him be this iconic force that simply commands this huge army. There are many scenes with him alone or just with his people. There's an extended scene set in Persepolis, for instance, where he takes power and there are several scenes where he is going through his transitions and he's shown speaking to his mother and his wife and with all of that he becomes that much more interesting as a character."

"The story will be the same heft as '300' but it cover a much, much greater span of time -- it's 10 years, not three days," Miller said. "This is a more complex story. The story is so much larger. The Spartans in '300' were being enclosed by the page as the world got smaller. This story has truly vast subjects. The Athenian naval fleet, for instance, is a massive artistic undertaking and it dwarfed by the Persian fleet, which is also shown in this story. The story has elements of espionage, too, and it's a sweeping tale with gods and warriors."

"The time frame begins 10 years before '300' and the story starts with the Battle of Marathon, which was killer to draw, by the way, even if it was a lot of work," Miller said. "The lead character is Themistocles, who became warlord of Greece and built their navy. The story is very different than '300' in that it involves Xerxes search for godhood. The existence of gods are presupposed in this story and the idea is that he well on his way to godhood by the end of the story."

Miller added: "With Themistocles I have a character who is almost the dead opposite of Leonidas in that Themistocles was a lying, conniving, brilliant, heroic figure. He was nicknamed 'The Subtle Serpent' and he always manages to do the exact right things that will result in him benefiting greatly."

Concept Art Reveals New 'Captain America' Movie Look

Some concept art was recently revealed, which was supposedly of the new look that Captain America would be sporting in the upcoming movie. Apparently it's now confirmed that the images over at Aint It Cool News are indeed the real deal and what Steve Rogers' costume will look like.

I think the outfit looks great from the neck down, but there's something about that Blue Man Group bald dome head that I don't like. The head needs a little something. Give the man his wings!
