Scribblenauts
'Scribblenauts' (Nintendo DS) – Review
Fri, 09/25/2009 - 10:53 — Jason Van Horn
Scribblenauts has been one of the most hyped DS games of all-time, as it won a number of awards this year when it showed at E3. Scribblenauts, however, isn't a game that completely lives up to the hype, which makes me wonder how it won so much in the first place. Did people play the game or just randomly type words in at the title screen and praise it as the best thing ever? While the gameplay is quite fun, the terrible controls are unbearable at times and are easily some of the worst I've ever experienced on the DS.

'Scribblenauts' Racism Misunderstood
Thu, 09/17/2009 - 10:11 — Jason Van Horn
Scribblenauts is currently involved in a racism scandal, as the word "sambo" is featured in the game. If you type the word in a fruit that looks like a watermelon appears. Some people have claimed that the game is being racist because the word is in there at all, while others claim the game is being racist because "sambo" is an old derogatory word for black people, and one stereotype is that all black people like watermelon. The truth from the Scribblenauts team, however, is the fact that sambo is a watermelon looking gourd/fruit and that's why it appears as it does in the game and why it was included.
Destructoid has more on the subject and the history of sambo and why some people are offended.
'Scribblenauts' 22,802 Dictionary Now Available

I'd tell you some of the words on this list, but I don't want to see the list and spoil it for myself. I've already got the game pre-ordered and my own rooster hat waiting for me, so I want to be surprised whenever I type a word in and then BAM there it is. If you want to see what words make-up the 22,802 long dictionary, by all means click on over to this link to see what you can create in the game with the mere typing of a word.
'Scribblenauts' Gets Swanky Pre-Order Bonus
Mon, 07/27/2009 - 10:18 — Jason Van Horn
Pre-order bonuses are always great...even when they're just a small little something. The coolest pre-order bonus I've seen recently is coming out shortly for Scribblenauts, but is right now only available to EBGames purchasers in Australia. If you pre-buy the game in the land down under you'll receive a free roster hat...just like the game's main character wears.
Here's hoping the pre-buy offer makes its way to American soil.
'Scribblenauts' Gets Release Date
Thu, 07/23/2009 - 08:34 — Jason Van Horn
Scribblenauts had one of the biggest showings at E3 this year, as journalists loved typing words into the game to see if they could stump it. What about everyone else who couldn't attend the show? When would gamers finally be able to make God fight a sea monster? As it turns out, the release date for Scribblenauts was just released, and it will be hitting stores on September 15th.
