'Dragon Age: Origins' DLC Darkspawn Chronicles Announced
Thu, 05/06/2010 - 08:34 — Jason Van Horn
Imagine if your character in Dragon Age: Origins didn't survive the joining ritual and had instead died. Well, if that was to happen, it turns out that Alistair would've been the leader of the new The Grey Wardens. You'll be able to not only explore this alternate history in the upcoming DLC, but you'll actually be playing as the Darkspawn this time around. Yes, that's right, you're going to be the bad guys!
"Darkspawn Chronicles" is out on May 18, and will cost 400 MS Points for 360, 400 BioWare points for PC, and $4.99 on PlayStation 3.
'Drage Age 2' Coming In February?
Fri, 03/12/2010 - 13:21 — Jason Van Horn
Do I dare dream that Dragon Age will be getting a sequel come this February? I love the franchise and cant wait until I get my hands on Awakening next week, but beyond the game, reports are that within the expansion is a card using the same Blood Dragon type design, and that it's promoting the date of 2-1-2011. Could this be the first official sequel's release date?
Here is hoping it is a sequel and it carries over your characters and choices much like in Mass Effect.
'Dragon Age: Origins' DLC 'Return To Ostagar' (Xbox 360) – Review
Wed, 02/24/2010 - 15:35 — Jason Van Horn
I'm a big fan of Dragon Age: Origins, so it was only natural that I'd download the latest DLC – Return To Ostagar – so that I could get the full experience. As a diehard fan it's a nice little tribute to a major part of the game, but in terms of length, challenge, enemies, and loot, the experience is more cool than rewarding.
'Dragon Age' Comic Delayed To April
Tue, 02/23/2010 - 08:45 — Jason Van Horn
Much like Kick-Ass, Dragon Age is another franchise I can't get enough of. I'm waiting for Awakenings to come out in March, I need to buy the two novels, and now I'm waiting until April for the Dragon Age comic - written by Orson Scott Card - which has just been delayed.
'Dragon Age: Awakenings' Introduces Sigrun

I think she'll work well with my dwarf warrior I'm currently playing through the game with to get ready for the expansion.
More 'Dragon Age' Coming In 2011
Tue, 02/09/2010 - 11:38 — Jason Van Horn
I loved the world and story of Dragon Age: Origins and definitely had hope that Bioware would pull a Mass Effect number so that choices you make in the first game would transition to others. The game's getting its first expansion in such under a month, but now there's word of a new Dragon Age game coming in 2011. Besides coming out for PC and consoles, it also surprisingly lists handhelds. Hmm...could these be the next official Dragon Age game? Makes me want to play another character...and not die this time. Stupid morality!

'Dragon Age' DLC & Expansion News
Tue, 01/05/2010 - 08:48 — Jason Van Horn
I love Dragon Age: Origins, but today's a polarizing and confusing day for me. I was all good to go on buying the new DLC - Return To Ostagar - but now I wake to find that the DLC has been postponed with no word on when it will come out. Argh! Secondly, it's been rumored, but it looks like the game will be getting an expansion/sequel come March called Dragon Age: Awakenings. Of course, I can only really find the information at one place, and they took down the video that went with it. What gives with Bioware and Dragon Age this morning? As reported:
"Set after the events of Dragon Age: Origins in the land of Amaranthine, players will take on the role of a Grey Warden trying to rebuild the order of legendary warriors. Along with this monumental task, players will have to discover new secrets of the Darkspawn menace as well as face off against deadly new threats such as the Inferno Golem, Spectral Dragon and a mysterious foe that calls itself the "Architect." Fortunately, Awakening raises the level cap of the game, and provides new abilities, spells, specializations and items for players to acquire.
Players will also have the option to import and revise their characters from Dragon Age: Origins, expanding on the customization of their heroes. Players can also choose to create a brand new Grey Warden from the land of Orlais. Five new party members will also be available for players to recruit and add to their band of adventurers."
Sounds good if this is indeed the truth. Who knows what's going on though?
'Dragon Age' Already Getting An Expansion?
Fri, 01/01/2010 - 09:42 — Jason Van Horn
It hasn't been released for that long, but there's already two novels out, a comic series in the works, and several DLC already releashed - including one that's set to come out next week on the fifth. Beyond that, however, if rumor is to be believed, Bioware isn't slowing down, as they apparently are releasing an expansion to Dragon Age called Awakening next year. The new expansion is said to take place after the events of the original game, with a new character, a new origin story, and upwards of 15 hours of gameplay.
I say bring it on!
Orson Scott Card Writing 'Dragon Age' Comic
Wed, 12/23/2009 - 09:48 — Jason Van Horn
One of my favorite games of recent is Dragon Age: Origins - I can't get enough of the world. There's already two novels that tie into the world (have yet to get them sadly), but now there's going to be a comic series, and it's going to be handled by one of my favorite sci-fi writers - Orson Scott Card. Now, I don't like the guy for his anti-homosexuality stance and some of his other religious and political beliefs, but I can at least disassociate his work from the man who wrote them and still enjoy them a great deal.
As for the Dragon Age comic, it will supposedly revolve around "rogue mages within the Circle of Magi who will defy the rules of the Templars and change the course of the world forever."
'Dragon Age: Origins': Putting The Role-Playing Back Into RPGs
Thu, 12/17/2009 - 11:12 — Jason Van Horn
Role-playing games today are more about experiencing the story the developers want you to have rather than the one you'd create for yourself. When it comes to many RPGs – especially JRPGs – you're basically along for the ride, as you're forced to do whatever the game wants. Dragon Age: Origins is a different beast of a game, as it's one of the first times I ever experienced a game that actually felt like me playing a role and living my character. So much so, in fact, that I now find it hard to play the game without going into it with that line of thinking.
