Will 'Caprica' Be Renewed? Will There Be A Second Spinoff?
Thu, 03/18/2010 - 09:42 — Jason Van Horn
Caprica isn't doing fantastic in the ratings department, but they are slowly growing. So will the show be renewed for a second season? As it turns out, that remains to be seen.
"It's an expensive show for Syfy, for a basic cable show, and the ratings are not gangbusters, but the ratings have been ticking up and we're building momentum," Ronald Moore said. "It's been critically well received, so there's a good buzz on the show. It adds a lot of prestige to the network, but the network also has its own business people that have to figure out a cost analysis on it. I feel like we're gonna get it. I always felt like we were gonna get it on Battlestar. We'll just have wait and see."
There's also reports about another Battlestar Galactica spinoff being in the works.
"[They] said, 'We have this concept for a format in which to do a show. Would you be interested?'" Moore recalled. "We kind of said, 'Yeah, that's interesting. What would it be?' And we had some conversations about what the parameters of the show would be. We're really at the very beginning of that whole process, so there's really nothing definitive yet, but we are sort of talking back and forth about what it might be. It'd be in this [BSG/Caprica] universe."
'Caprica' (1.6) "Know Thy Enemy" – Review
Thu, 03/11/2010 - 09:42 — Jason Van Horn
Caprica is a very different type of sci-fi series, but I've still enjoyed it so far. It's been a bit slow, but last week's episode was excellent and started a storyline I hoped to see continued. Well, it wasn't continued this week, because instead we went back to the slow moving character drama of the first four episodes. I didn't mind that the first handful of episodes, but I thought this episode dragged and was quite boring at times.

She tells him to take a message to her father, and he does.

'Caprica' (1.1) "Pilot" – Review
Tue, 01/26/2010 - 11:21 — Jason Van Horn
The Battlestar Galactica prequel series – Caprica – is finally here, but it's a show that won't necessarily automatically impress those of BSG. There are indeed several stylized themes that are shared between the two, but whereas BSG was a space-faring adventure with philosophical ideals, Caprica is a human drama with philosophical ideas first and foremost. It might be hard to keep this series interesting week in and week out, but as of right now I'm pleasantly surprised and fulfilled by what I saw in the first episode.
